The United Nations World Food Program has suspended the delivery of aid through a temporary US port established in the Gaza Strip.
World Food Program Director Cindy McCain announced the suspension of aid activities.
It should be noted that an operation to release the hostages was conducted by the Israeli army from the American port of Gaza, during which 274 Palestinians were martyred.
Cindy McCain said that in the Israeli attack, rockets were fired at 2 warehouses of the World Food Program and one staff member was injured.
According to the international organization, a temporary US port was established in Gaza to help the starving Palestinians.
The statement further said that work has been stopped for now to assess the safety of aid workers.
The port was established in May and operated for a week but was closed for 2 weeks due to a hurricane.
After the sea crossing was repaired, it was reopened on June 8, but on the same day the Israeli army attacked Gaza through it.
According to the Arab media, the Israeli soldiers came in Hamas uniforms for the operation and were speaking Arabic with a Palestinian accent.
Israeli soldiers rented a house near the site where the hostages were held and mingled with local civilians.
On the day of the final operation, a large contingent of the Israeli army came as aid workers, and Israel conducted the operation based on American and British intelligence.
In this operation, 4 Israeli hostages who were held by Hamas for 8 months were claimed to be released.
Following the operation, the World Food Program has suspended aid activities and it is not clear when aid delivery will resume.
In this regard, the director of the World Food Program said, “After the Israeli action, we are now concerned about the safety of our staff, rockets were fired at our 2 warehouses.”
“Right now we are pulling back for a while to ensure the safe delivery of aid before resuming relief operations, but work will continue in other parts of Gaza,” he said.
He said that such attacks show how important a ceasefire is so that aid operations in Gaza can continue on a large scale.
On the other hand, the Israeli media claimed in a report that there is a fear of a Hamas attack on the American temporary port, due to which security measures have been tightened there.
According to US defense officials, no US military personnel went ashore in Gaza, while the southern area of the temporary port was used to release the hostages.
