Washington: The US House of Representatives has demanded an investigation into Pakistan’s general elections.
The non-binding resolution approved by the US House of Representatives by a vote of 368 to 7 calls for an independent and impartial investigation into allegations of interference and irregularities in the February 8 election.
The resolution states that it condemns efforts to suppress the people in Pakistan to prevent them from participating in the democratic process.
The resolution also condemned intimidation, harassment and imprisonment to prevent people from participating in the democratic process, while the resolution said that disruptions in the provision of internet and telecommunication facilities and humanitarian, civil and Violation of political rights is condemnable.
The US government is not bound by this non-binding resolution.
