After the voting in 57 seats of 8 states for the seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha (Lower House) in India, the election phase has ended.
Voting continued till 6 pm local time. The results of the seven-phase elections will be announced on June 4, but exit polls have been released by survey agencies and Indian media.
According to exit polls released by Republic Bharat Matrix, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), comprising the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and other parties, is likely to win 353 to 368 seats out of 543. While the Congress-led alliance ‘India’ may get 118 to 133 seats and others are likely to get 43 to 48 seats.
Apart from this, the exit poll of John Ki Baat Agency said that NDA could get 362 to 392 seats, India Alliance 141 to 161 seats and others 10 to 20 seats.
According to Denik Bhaskar, the right-wing alliance led by the Bharatiya Janata Party is likely to get 285 to 350 seats, while the Congress alliance is likely to get 145 to 201 seats and other parties 33 to 49 seats.
The India News D Dynamics exit poll said that the NDA could win 371 seats, India 125 and other parties 47 seats.
In the exit poll conducted by Republic TVP Mark, the NDA is likely to get 359 seats, opposition alliance India 154 and other parties 30 seats.
According to the exit polls, the Bharatiya Janata Party is ahead of the opposition in several states and these states include Gujarat, Delhi, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, while the Congress is likely to win in Punjab and Kerala.
The support of 272 members in the Lok Sabha is necessary to form the government and Narendra Modi is likely to be elected as the Prime Minister for the third consecutive term after the exit polls are released.
