Washington: The families of the people killed in the crash of two Boeing 737 Max passenger planes have demanded $25 billion in compensation from the plane maker.
According to a British media report, the family’s lawyer, Pyle Castle, said that the amount demanded by the family is absolutely reasonable.
On the other hand, Dave Colhoun, the CEO of the Boeing Company, appeared in the US Congress (Senate) and apologized for the plane accidents, saying that our company has made mistakes and we have learned from them.
According to the report, in 2018 and 2019, 2 passenger planes of Boeing 737 Max were involved in accidents which were very similar and both accidents occurred due to faulty control system.
According to the report of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), a Boeing 737 Max passenger plane took off from Indonesia in 2018 and crashed into the sea a few minutes later, killing all 189 passengers, while the second crash In 2019, an Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 Max plane crashed 6 minutes after take-off, killing all 157 passengers.
The families of the 346 people who lost their lives in the plane crash have demanded a total of 24.8 billion dollars from the shipbuilding company.
