After a poor performance as captain in the ICCT20 World Cup, there are reports that the board has decided to keep Babar Azam off the captaincy for the 2-Test home series against Bangladesh.
Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi, on the recommendation of the 7-member selection committee, replaced Shaheen Afridi with the leadership of the T20 team by Babar Azam and gave him the leadership of the white ball team until the 2025 Champions Trophy.
It was expected that the board intended to give him the lead in the 2-Test series against Bangladesh as the 2-Test series is part of the ICC Test Championship.
However, after the poor performance in the World Cup, now the board has decided to trust Shan Masood instead of considering Babar Azam’s name to lead the Test team.
It is being told that Australian Test fast bowler Jason Gillespie will be the coach of the Test team along with Shaun Masood.
